Addressing Violence and Etiam Tu and Other Issues Reboot 66 E
The natural/primal nature of human beings is to respond to perceived threats in an aggressive or defensive manner. In the instances where aggression is the dominant characteristic depiction of our reaction,
we see how our bodies are transformed to the position of being a physical weapon. We prepare ourselves to defend or eliminate any threat perceived to be real and perilous.
Those things thought to be threats to our continued survival are met with an innate defense mechanism built into our primal nature. This also applies to all the non-violent or non-physical threats we perceive as dangerous to our status, position or reputation as a member of a group or as individuals to be feared or respected.
We through our social evolution have determined that many things that adversely affect the desired outcome or situation are credible threats to our survival. The bad review of our work, criticism of an effort or product, denied admission to an organization or gathering, the public diminishment of our importance or character, or discrediting of our ability or importance in our own eyes or those of others, are all examples of the threats posed by others in our current real-time existence. Any and all of these can and do elicit violent and often Hate filled responses. All have the ability to ignite or inflame passionate responses to these supposed assaults or affronts.
The desensitization of awareness to real threats or the hyper-sensitizing of the personal character of modern man, lead to a broad field on which less-than-perfect personal interactions can result in episodes of violent retribution for any unfavorable action taken against us. This obviously less than exemplary factor about our species results in our display of violent anger and assault upon those who would and do present such a threat to our continued survival. A threat which is then magnified by the broad definition of threat conditions. This current real-time status of our ability and guidelines for threat assessment results in numerous instances of violent recourse as our primal instincts can rarely be restrained when a threat is perceived as real. This instinct is solely responsible for numerous examples of violent reaction to the perceived threats.
In our modern world, in current real-time, hyper-sensitivity has undeniably shaped the standards for the general public and much of the civilized world. Our susceptibility to being easily moved to defensiveness and overestimating of the actual threat condition has caused societal evolution to come to the point of constantly operating at or near the flashpoint, and far too often resulting in justifiable outburst of violent actions. Luckily, we exist in the system free of the stern enforcement of violent punishment for transgressions against our societal rules, laws and orders. We are fortunate to have freed ourselves of physical oppression and barbarism many years in the past in much of the modern world. We enjoy full person-hood with legal redress in most of, but not the entire world.
