Etiam Tu: Eradicating Hatred Section 4 Fight or Flight, Pecking Order, Fear and Rage and: the respon

The history of humanity shows a tendency within the majority of the population to be resentful, envious, dissatisfied, disdainful and insolent towards those who maintain a higher or dominant position over them.

We tend to wish for, or promote the idea of unseating a weak or unworthy person in a higher strata than our own. This contrarian nature is common to many if not most humans, and I believe it is only suppression of these attitudes that allow anyone to live otherwise. I will venture to say that the few readers of this who deny it are in denial.

In our determination of the weakness or unworthiness of those above our own strata: we identify, seek out or attempt to exploit situations and opportunities to advance our own position. The chance to advance ourselves and undermine or displace those above our strata is seldom ignored. The efforts required to belittle the position, stature or point out the questionable character of those seen as incompetent rarely escapes our notice and deliberation;even for those who are not willing to take or motivated towards such undermining actions. And the temptation is truly insatiable for the majority of us, who seek to better our own station in life.

The lack of fear of painful retribution for such insolence fosters our aggressive and often sinister outlooks towards these unworthy leaders.
